Thread: P38 EAS Fault

Cheers boys,

Disco ill chase that up. From the reading I have been doing it may just be a loose connection, that would make sence as I had been cruising across some rough roads in the hour or so prior.

Now I thought with a "soft fault" the system automaticaly resets itself once the fault had been fixed? Despite this Ill get onto the RR.net system reset program and chase down a cable.

Jim, you can buy the OBD2 connector from Jaycar Electronics. I had an old serial cable so I just soldered the OBD2 connector to that and it was done.

My laptop doesn't have a serial port so I had to use a serial - USB converter to interface it.

I downloaded the software and tried it out. Perfect.

I was able to induce an EAS fault, and then clear it.

P38arover,

I have been to jay car and made cable the using the spreadsheet , had a shot at it tonight.

I connected the pc to the car,
booted the PC
turned the ignition to II (eas fault displayed + audible beeps)
ran the program
pressed initialize (this induced eas fault display to flash up again and beeps)
pressed eas unlock ( displayed slow to 55km)
pressed stop ( eas fault displayed and beeps)
closed program and disconnected PC from car
started car.

problem still remains.
Exactly which connections should I be checking on the Eas module? Is there an easy way of removing those under seat cover gromets?

well to finish this post off,

After not being able to get the downloaded program to clear the fault I took the car into Rolfe motors and had them run a diagnostic and clear the fault.

The fault was due to by high pressure sensor activating. As stated above I can only guess that this was a result of the driving conditions.

Im still going to play around with the cable and the EAS fault program to try to get it working.

Jim, post that feedback to the RRNET thread. It might be something the software developers can follow up on.

Im not sure its a fault with the program tho, when I have a chance I was going to check over the cable I made, then when I have the car back in melbourne over xmas I was going to try an induce then clear a error.

I dont realy want to enduce an eas fault and then not be able to clear it as I have a few kms to cover in the next few weeks.
