    D2 Td5 Auto leak

    Hi
I thought it was a standard "leaking of oil"....

But it is ATF leaking out. A bolt, like a filler bolt, seemed to be missing from the RHS near to bottom of the auto.

Got a 14mm bolt to fit, but oil leaks from the bottom of the box from some sort of open drain. Its not from the bottom pan part of the box.

    Any ideas?

it would be very very bad if that was one of the blanking plugs that you take out for doing pressure checks your auto will pump itself dry very very quickly....

    Pics will be most helpful.

Exactly. Could also be the offset wading plug hole the Td5 has? IE converter front seal leaking?

Whatever it is we need pics.

I'm not sure if this relates to your issue. My disco td5 auto developed a leak a couple of weeks ago all of a sudden. atf giving a nice anti rust covering from the bell housing to the spare wheel. At the time I was approx 350 km's from home on a Sunday. Managed through some good will from a friend (thanks Lawrance & Kel)got some atf & a pump & topped up the auto to the right level. It looked like it was coming out the front pump seal which to my knowledge is very unusual, especially with the box only being 60k km's old (another good story). Drove the 350 km's home without spraying atf all over the road.? You could still see the leak but not losing much fluid at all. Auto specialist looked at the leak on Monday & removed the tranny & dismantled for a better look. Turned out the lock up clutch had been slipping ever so slightly (you could see the heat mark on the torque converter) Oil was not burnt at all & none of the other clutch packs showed any sign of being over heated. They had not seen this before. There were'nt any faults recorded in the tranny ecu however the engine management has been remapped. I purchased a new drive plate (preventitive maintenance). Much discussion re cause of seal failure & lock up clutch slippage. End result was a reco'ed tranny foc.
