I agree, the EFI exhaust manifolds are very good for what they are (a cast manifold, 4 into 2.)

I have these manifolds on my 110 V8 and they work very well. 2.5 mandrel bent through a free flow muffler and resonator gives a beautiful sound and does'nt annoy you on the long trips. The engine breaths so much better.

Economy is about the same, maybe a little better.

It doesn't drone but you can hear it when you put your right foot down.

I've got a magnaflow muffler and I think its offset like mentioned previously. The magnaflow gives it a very deep sound. Just make sure the exhaust shop knows what they are doing.

Also, I was told extractors wouldn't make much difference for the money they cost. A mate has a worked engine in his rangie and that needs extractors to get the most out of it.

I have fitted a Flowmaster lightly baffled muffler and have a nice "mouse" sound at low revs , but no drone. At first I had only a straight through resonator at the back, but SWMBO thought too loud, so I fitted the biggest dog leg straight through that would fit and now its perfecto.( but you do not hear the nice Brrrrr so much inside)

By mouse it has a definite V8 beat like a 350 chev, which very few systems give you on a Rover.

I have the dreaded drone, which, the exhaust shop owner, said it "Wouldn't drone" :mad:

So now I'm tossing up over changing the muffler, or fitting another resinator in front of the straight through muffler.

The droning noise comes in from the rear of the vehicle, when it is under load.... it is starting to drive me nucking futs :(

Any idea's from the "Ive been there done that?"

What did the Exhaust Shop have to say? Will they fix it?

I've just got a quote for a new freeflow muffler on a Td5 - $300 fitted for stainless Holden Malloo V8 ute muffler...although I think I might just go straight pipe given that the turbo acts a sufficient muffler.

Interestingly the exhaust shop bloke reckons that shops that fit larger cats are usually just up-selling. He reckoned that most cats these days are not restrictive - it's the entry/exit pipes of the cats that are the restriction point so he simply replaces these.
