How To Get That Layshaft Bearing Race Out of an LT95???

I'm rebuilding an LT95 and have the entire main housing stripped, except for this one part. I'll try and post a photo later on but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. The outer race for the rear bearing for the layshaft is pressed into the back of the main gearbox housing. There's a special tool shown for this but of course I don't have one and there's not enough of a step behind the bearing for it to work anyway. There are, however, two notches at 12 and 6 o'clock and I'll have to try and make a tool that uses those.

I was just hoping that someone had already come across this and could maybe save my brain from seizing up through thinking about this too much!

    lt95

you could use a die grinder and cut through the bearing inline with one of the casing slots,it should release the pressure and come out.just make sure you clean the swarf out well.

Thanks to everyone who replied! In the end I was able to take two legs off an old three-legged gear puller, (does that sound rude only to me?), grind the ends to suit the slots, and lever the race out of the casing. The curved legs made it possible to get them into place and the hardened steel meant the ends didn't just snap off.

    Thanks again!
