That's my concern is the alloy bits, even tho my V8 has plenty of course, but more so the TD5 head that cannot be saved once it's cooked it's u/s, at least most other alloy (petrol) engines can be decked/shaved & reco'd.
The Engine Monitoring System is actually bought from here from the Entertainer. Basically the same sort of gadget as yours at the end of the day, for the same reason, but has several other inputs.
I'm not taking sides but I am watching intently (other than pot stirring) as I'm mulling over the same descision.
That Mrs Mangles was too much to bear, ummm bare.... ummmm.![]()

According to Bosch, the TD5 coolant temp sensor manufacturer, the sensor works in air or liquids up to 130deg C (its working limit). It is known to have worked in a TD5 that had steam going everywhere, as the high-temp warning light was on and the gauge needle dropped to the bottom indicating the coolant temp was above 126.9 deg and out of operating range.

Ahh, thats interesting. Thanks for that Graeme, I didn't realise the TD5's one did that - also the out of range dropping the needle.

Wow! Good work on the links. I haven't got time to go through them all tonight. Can you tell me how many of them were done with cars that had had half a million punishing k's already on them?
I'm really not saying that there vehicles were unable to do this kind of work when they were new.. LOL.

Dave... you are by all reports an excellent mechanic and I don't doubt you could do all of this.
Sounds like your old Jeep has done some work, but I'm still waiting for a flood of examples of land rover vehicles with half a million punishing k's on them being used regularly for serious remote use off track and off road.
