Hi crump, what was your last battery, because if it was an ordinary flooded wet cell then you got a fair run out of it and you would not be wasting money buying the same again.
Cheers.
it appears my aux battery has died after 4 and a bit years in the Defender, so the question is what should I replace it with? Iam using an SC 40 isolator and basically only use the auxillary for running a fridge and the odd flouro when camping a few times a year, so I dont require a second cranking battery, suggestions please.![]()

Get a CAT battery Crump, they are mostly rated as dual purpose and come with a 5 year pro-rata replacement warrenty. Price wise they are also very competative.

personally i love optimas, yes i know they are expensive and i have heard some people who hate them, but i have so far never had a problem with them, i use yellow tops, got two in the 90 and just put one in the 110 and they have never let me in down in the last few years hot or cold temp. but like all things its just an opnion and i'm sure you will find as many fors as agansts.
In the 4WD everybody I know with Optima's including myself have been getting a good run out of them. They cost, but they last.
Interestingly, their capacity/kg is excellent, but their capacity for the size isn't as good.
Cheers

I had an Optima yellow top and it started leaking acid from the -tve terminal after about 4 years and was down to about 1/2 capacity.
Currently I have an "Absorbed Power" 95 Amp which Juuuust fits in the LH of a RRC. Have had it for 2 years and still perfect. It runs my old mechanical Engel for 3 days at least as I have not yet flattened it.
As the Absorbed Power is now 2 years old, I am ahead as the Optima cost twice as much.
