Thread: anyone had the metal around door break!!

I've welded two up in two weeks recently. A common Defender problem when people slam the door using the inner handle.

I find it also breaks the locking button slide, the escutcheon and sometimes the lock pin itself.

This only seems to happen to Defenders, I haven't had to fix a county yet.

As far as I remember, on the factory central locking Defenders the door steel is slightly less reinforced due to the section removed to fit the actuator assembly and rod etc.

Get the mig out and start welding.....

Whats a escutcheon?! Can you get that from bodily contact?! lol
