saw it on one of the links in the td5vstdi300 hijack, Apart from it sits where I want to put a fuel tank and it looks like its only riveted to the chassis thats not a bad idea.

Id upengineer the hinge, the way its mounted to the chassis and the way its held up (looks like its just held up by a hasp and staple.

but in principle its a top idea. I like it.

good location ....esp if a bottle springs a leak as it will leak on the ground and not through everything in your car

I had similar toolbox cradles under either side of my last Sierra. Worked a treat, out of the way. The hinges need attention with lanolin or similar of course if you don't use them much.
Tanks may be more important in really remote areas tho.

another thought is how much of each oil does one take

on my simpson trip i carried the following

• 4L engine oil (didn't need to use however what if i had to drain the sump for one reason or another....i would not have had enough to fill back up, spose i could have used the diff oil as well)
• 500ml Brake fuild (was real handy when i needed to rebuild my clutch master cylinder at mt dare)
• 1L diff oil (needed this as i converted to maxi axles two days prior to leaving and needed to top the diff up at the end of each day for the first couple days)

Ha ha!

Perfect for car chases, pull the cable and instant oil slick.

That'll stop 'em.

Years ago i had a lwb series that had rear sealed bumperett,s , That had plugs top and bottom

Great idea i thought they would hold 5 litres each
