    Jumpy tacho??

Hi guys, the tacho in my 98 petrol disco is jumping around when cruising, it appears to be steady during acceleration.Any clues to it's complaint?

I had a 97 D1 v8 for about 12 months (9 years ago !), and had the same problem. It was fixed under warranty (took the dealer about ten minutes), but for the life of me I cannot remember what the problem was.

I am pretty sure that it wasn't some major $$$ part that was replaced .

Check , clean and tighten the W plug connection on the back of the Alternator, this feeds the tacho. If it's dirty , corroded or loose you'll get these symptoms.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for the tips guys!!

    You need:
8mm socket, small round crimp terminal and crimping tool and literally 2 mins and the problem goes away, fixed my issue before I left for work
