    Rhino Rack Smack

Just bought a pair of 210mm Rhino HD Bars. The uprights are a bit thick and hit the side of the roof!

I have seen Defender uprights that have the small scallop out of them for the curve of the roof .

And I have seen D2's with the 210 uprights but never noticed whether they have been home scalloped or are the Defender version.

Rhino say that only the 280mm uprights suit the D2!

Do i cut up my racks.

    Or do Defender uprights fit.

    Anyone?

Is 210 the next size down from 280? If so that’s what I used, scalloped out about 6mm & with the rhino spacers to give about (i think) 230 height. The legs fitted but were touching the side of roof curve so 5-6mm gives a neat gap. The 280 sit miles above the roof.

I have Rhino heavy duty racks as well. NOT the Discovery specific ones as I wanted to keep the horizontal bars somehwere near the roof.

I did also have to scallop out about 5mm at the top section of the upright to clear the roof line and also fit two spacers (rhino specific ones) to get clearance for the horizontal bars to the middle of the roof.

A very good setup I feel as it keeps it reasonably close to the roof line so not to pickup any low hanging powerlines..... Although it is definitely not for the local shopping centre carpark now (what a shame). I measured the height and it comes in at 2.2m from ground to top of rhino bars. My disco is a D1, with a sagged 50mm lift and 245/75/16s.

    Hope that helps

    Cheers

Thanks. Just did the scalloping of about 10mm and shaped them specifically for the roof line. Also had to put the 20mm spacers, 10 were just too close to the rooof for any flex.

hard plastic..... might need a new dremel.
