Have you checked the loom for oil?
Angus
Returning home the other day I went to overtake at about 90kmh with the trailer on and I had a sudden complete loss of power for about a second and then it came good. It did this a couple of times only under load at about 90-105 kmh. It was like someone turned the ignition on and off for a second. My vehicle a Disco 2 td5 2002 drives fine and revs freely through the gears but it seems to only be a problem while towing when the vehicle is under load. The problem had only happened about 3-4 times over a 300km trip. It was suggested to me that it could have been the wastegate modulator dumping all boost out the exhaust. Apparently the solenoid that controls the wastegate modulator can cause problems. I replaced this item as it was cheap enough but I would like to know of any other areas that I should be looking at as possible causes. I should say that no fault codes were logged to the computer after this problem occured. Thanks in advance for any help.

if it lost everything and then the idiot lights lit up lke youd just turned the key you have an earth fault.
This can also be caused by the intercooler hoses collapsing but that usually happens from take off.
These are the easy things you can check yourself.
let us know how that goes and then we can move onto fault finding proper.

thats what happened to me yesterday.....exact same conditions load and speed......
it must be the trailer.......
i put mine down to bad fuel as i had just refuelled.......then when i refuelled up again......all my problems had gone away.......
when mine coughed......i noticed the temp guage would flick to red and come back to normal.......with the second load of fuel now mixed in with the first......
i was overtaking everyone......and thats with a trailer and a car on the back.......
did all this happen just after you filled up the tank......?
Are both these vehicles overheating and the ECU limiting power to protect the motor?????.
See if your aircon fan is running all the time with the aircon/climate control switched off and motor running.
If it is,the motor has been overheated and the fault will need clearing with testbook to stop that fan running.

thats interesting.....
my temp guage hadnt moved from where it normally sits......
that might be a dodgy wire OR... more worryingly the temp sensor having gotten used to a certain range and breaking down when you go over a little bit...

Definately the first place I would look is a siezed wastegate. The actuator won't overcome it and overboost under load will give a momentary fuel shutoff, like a coil lead being unplugged on a petrol engine kind of symptom. CRC the wastegate shaft and move it with some multigrips to free it up. I have heard of this still not being successful and a new turbo housing was required.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
shouldnt changing back to fourth have more power and allow the revs to build up again......?
even in fourth...it wouldnt have the power to pick up any more speed.....
heck...it couldnt even hold 80kph......it was dying.....
with mine...all my troubles went away with the fresh fuel......
Wastegate checked and is moving freely with compressed air applied to the modulator.
Intercooler hose has been replaced between the intercooler and the metal pipe to the turbo about 10000km's ago but the short hose just after the turbo was OK at the time. It is now a little soft but being such a short hose I really can't see this as the problem. Hose from Intercooler to EGR is still original but looks and feels OK.
Checked oil in loom about 20000km's ago and replaced Injector loom about 30000km's ago.
Electric fans are not continually running and as I mentioned there were no faults logged when checked on the computer.
Fuel: I filled up 200km's earlier with no problems on the way up, it was only on the return trip that I had the problem.
Interested in any new suggestions.
Cheers Robbo
