    I'd advise black, as it cuts down on reflected glare that you can get driving into the sun. (I know, I own a pair of polished alli myself and was thinking about repainting.)

    Mate you need to do some more of your own work on your Defender then you'd notice how thin the ali is on the front guards - mine had lots of dents on the top from tools and elbows!!!

    Got a set of polished ali. chequer plate from coopers in NSW, fit properly, added strength priced relatively well and I only had to con the postie into delivering to me at the door. Not much glare, too busy trying to avoid tourists to worry about it anyway. Black shmack.

    Then there is also the checker plate on the side of the car. Now that is great as it protects the side from you shoes suffing the paint workon the sill and the rear bit stop stones from the rear tyre straching the car

    The lower bottom of my doors and guards on my disco will have tread plate on once I pull my finger out and put them on that is
