Hi, is there any member that know about an audible temperature alarm to fit in the Tdi300?
A mechanic recommend me to fit one in the Tdi300 just in case that a hose goes or the water reservoir crack. Apparently does not take long for the Tdi300 to boil before you even have a look at the gage.
If it is good idea, where we can get them?
Inputs will be appreciated

what i have done on occasion is get a switch off an eletric fan (jap car 95 deg C one as stat opens at 85 C)
fit it to the top rad pipe and wire a side repeater light to it placing the repeater in the dash ,a led may be more astetic but it is a very simple solution, failing that look for a Murphy system used on static engines
Something better than alarms is a temperature sensitive switch on the head. The lead to the fuel solenoid on the injector pump goes through it. I have one which switches off at 105 degrees - before any damage could be caused by overheating
I think anything is better than reyling on the standard temp guage, which won't give any warning if there is no water surrounding it.
Whatever device you choose, it should have a test or fail safe mode ie either have it go through a test routine at start up, or if you cant do that at least have it wired up as "normally closed" not "normally open" .
The Engine Saver device advertised on the site has a test mode where you get a short beep every time you turn on the ignition. A little bit annoying but reassuring - I'd miss it if it wasn't there now.
Thanks very much for the inputs![]()

I use the Engine Watchdog TM2 ENGINE WATCHDOG TM2, Engine Coolant Temperature Alarm, Gauge & Sensor on both our vehicles. Uses a temperature sensor and has an adjustable alarm and temperature display.
Its accurate and very responsive and good for peace of mind.
I've got the Little Black Box on my P38A (from The Entertainer on this forum). I need to do somethiong with my daughter's 300 Tdi while she is away and I have the car for a month.
I'll probably build something simpler (still with audible alarm and light) for her.
