Philip,
I'm not sure what I'm looking for re 1,2, or 3 re high or low comp motors - any pointers?
Might look at piggy back ecu.
Thanks.

Early Disco 11 (99?)will be GEMS. It will have a Square box looking thing on top of the Engine, with 4.0 engraved on it.Quote:

Early Thor low comp (00 to 02?)will have a large set of curved pipes on top of the engine. The compression ratio is stamped on a plate between the two middle plugs on the LH, along with the engine number. It will be 8.13:1 or similar.
Late Thor high comp will be 03 only AFAIR.It will have 9.25:1 stamped on the plate. I think these all have the update front.
I am not really student of Disco11 so I may be incorrect on the dates.
Just Google "Thor V8" and you will learn a lot.

My 02, is a Thor High Compression
Slow Disco
The attached shows what you are looking for.
Thanks Ladas - aappreciate your help. Cheers!
Thanks PhilipA - appreciate your help, excellent......... Cheers
Is there a simple way to up the compression ratio on a 95 3.9 V8?
Will 3.5 heads fit? do they have smaller combustion chambers? If so, what would be the resulting compression ratio?
I'm hoping this will give better performance on gas. I'd use premium un leaded only.
depends on your definition of simple,,
machine the heads
or
deck the block
or
weld the combustion chamber
the first two are simple machining jobs,,
the 3rd requires skill.
they all require head removal
which is simple,, if your initials are JC
:D
define simple: bolt on, no machining
though I would consider bigger exhaust valves and a little porting to match manifolds.
