    upgade to flashable ECU

    Hi Guys
Was reading a UK landy mag I got for Xmas today.
There was a short story on owners drives. One was a 01 D2.There was no info given, but under "recent improvements" Upgrade to flashable ECU was mentioned.
Anybody know whats involved besides sorting the injector codes/security settings???
Are the eary injectors compatible with the later ECUs???
Are auto ECUs compatible with the manual????(seem to remember reading that auto ECU was OK in a man but not man into auto).

No, all ECUs are not Auto capable...

Yes, flashable ECUs fit older vehicles...

However, non flashable fitted vehicles respond better to a hard wired upgrade ECU....

They have more map points in the programming than the later ECUs

Meaning I would gain little benefit lower down the revs if I switched to a flashable ECU? My manual '99 TD5 D2 is already re-mapped by BD (second version from BD as the first played up something rotton) This second version has less power than the first map, but seems to drive much better, although I still get drivability issues from time to time........especially lower down the rev range where sometimes it just bogs down so badly I want to drive the car into a lake
Realise that a whole new ECU is pretty drastic but if I can be sure that I can reprograme some of the issues out or at least go close I would consider changing.
'99 Manual TD5 D2.......heap of money spent on it and it has ended
