    Disco 2 rear brake calipers

When I was bleeding the brakes yesterday I noticed there was play in the rear brack calipers. You could wobble the caliper possibily as much as 1mm. Its the same on both sides, nothing is loose and brakes work fine. It's an 03MY Td5 Auto, no SRS or ACE.

Can anyone tell me if this is this normal?

Mine's the same and the pads don't appear to wear unevenly. The pads were replaced at 120K with still a fair thickness of material.

Thanks Graeme, sounds like the calipers are designed to move a little.

I bet they take up the slack after a big braking effort or T/C use.

This is normal, the sliding pins in their bushes are what you are feeling. If they don't 'wobble', then they are seized. These are floating calipers in D2's, unlke the 4 piston fronts and 2 piston rears in RR, Def, and D1.

    Do not be concerned.

Thanks JC, wasn't so much worried as cautious and curious.

    I'll sleep soundly now!
