    Disco 1 heater core replacement

I have to replace the heater core on my Tdi, 99 Disco. I know it is one of the biggest jobs you can do, does anyone know of any short cuts or have any good ideas?

Not that I have done one, but from what I understand its a slow process.

Do you have a copy of the RAVE CD, there is step by step instructions there.

You can buy the CD's from the market place on this site (and the proceeds help keep the site running)

    Search is your friend.

Fortunately, one of the forum members described, with pix, an easy way to do it. I'm pretty sure I updated the pages - only did it a couple of months ago - or less.

Forget the official method described in the workshop manual - too slow and far too much work.

I did my daughter's car and found the method worked well and was relatively quick. It would have been quicker except I also had to replace the pipes which ahd been cut off by someone!

That was the slowest part of the job owing to Valeo (heater manufacturer) or LR's stupid design of the clamping screw arrangement and one which could have easily been changed as I did on reassembly (but won't affect what you are doing).

We do it Drive in and drive out in under 5 hours. It is a bit fiddly, but as Ron says, forget the LR method, they'd have you pulling the whole vehicle to bits!! Search and you shall find....
