Disco roof paint badly fading in blotches?

Due to water restrictions, I don't think I've given the Disco a batch for say 9 months. Only the odd downpour has bathed it.
I washed it the other day and noticed a couple of very large faded blotches on the roof.
It seems like the top coat has been eaten away and it feels and looks rough and has a grey dull haze. I put a bit of polish on it and it dulled slightly lessened the appearance a bit.
As it is a metallic paint I presume a clear laquer is applied over it.
Qu, do you think it would survive a cutting compound?
Never seem this on a LR before.
Maybe the possum plaque I have, and the little buggers have peed on it and eaten the paint?

If it is Metalic Sliver, very common.
I don't think it will buff out and you cannot spay clear laquer.
It will just peel of as if sunburn. Laquer does not stick on old laquer, you have to rub back down to the paint.

    Cheers

Mine started a couple of years ago, have already tried many different polishes to try and halt it but to no avail. It's only the roof on mine that has gone so I won't bother with it, as not many see it up there anyhow. Unfortunately though it looks like it is going down to the undercoat so a can of auto spray paint will have to do the job as all the other panels are in very good condition except for the many pinstripes added by the aussie bush.

Apply a 4" suspension lift and you won't even notice the roof.
