In the workshop manual it says this is a symptom of faulty injectors, is it possible for all 8 to fail at the same time ? I have my doubts about this so I've been messing around with everything else to try and get it not running so rich.
I've replaced the plugs, leads, ignition coil, dizzy cap and rotor, checked the timing, replaced the ign advance unit, stepper motor, air filter, fuel filter, readjusted the MAF to the correct voltage (it was at 3.1v now just about 1v) But none of this has had any effect.
My fuel consumption is fine, I'm getting 14L / 100 km, on the freeway which is brilliant but the plugs are still sooted up like its running rich. My oil level does go down a bit but I think its more to do with the oil leaks rather than burning it, I usually put about a liter of oil in every 5000km to top up between services. The engines done 180,000km.
The engine feels like its down on power but having said that I don't know what it should feel like.... from rest to 2nd gear is good, third is gutless, fourth is better but only after 2500rpm, and 5th is also gutless but I can understand 5th being like that as its just a cruising gear.
When I rev the engine on my driveway after about 2500rpm black soot comes out of the exhaust, now I don't know if this means its excess petrol or I'm burning oil.
