Question Help Please, Fitting 120l tank

    Hi All

Today I've fitted the Long Ranger 120l tank. Unfortunately it didn't come with any instructions. I've taken a few pics to put up in a tutorial but I need confirmation of a couple of things.

    1. Do I have to extend the fuel pickup? Commonsense says I do but I'm not really sure. Has anyone fitted one of these.
    2. Where does the return line plumb back into?
    3. What are the 2 outlets, one on the left and the right of the front mounting bracket?
    Any help would be appreciated.

At the moment i'm thinking that the 2 fittings left n right of the front mount is the return line, but why there would be 2 I have no idea. I've sorted the vent line, now I just need to resolve the pickup.

Anyone who has fitted one of these, you opinion would be appreciated.

    Yes please Kelvin.

I can sort the breather, and I'll simply add the bit of pipe that came in the bag of stuff to the pickup and hope for the best.

As for the return line I have NFI.

Y don't they have the proper LR fitting for the return?????

    Cheers

    Adrian,
Just got home, I can't believe how much fuel these V8's use pulling up out of the Huon valley...
I have some instructions somewhere at work, failing that I have rung outback automotive and they have E mailed stuff to me in the past... I can't remember the pickup / sender altering measurements, but I seem to recall the actual pickup for the fuel is one of the front ones, as I remember a customer with a problem that his 110 would run out of fuel at 1/3rd full, and they had plumbed his pickup pipe into the wrong place. We had to change it for him, and I seem to remember it was one of the front ones we fitted it to. Sorry I can't remember as it was about 3 years ago.

How did you go fitting it up?

The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    Talking Plan of attack

Ok, here is the plan of attack for tomorrow,
    1. Fit off filler n breather.
    2. Add bit o rubber fuel hose to the end of the pickup, angling it down toward the bottom of the tank and hope for the best. Hmmmm might add a hose clamp too for Justin. Sorry, inhouse joke.
    3. Drill out the additional barbed fitting on the sender and mod standard LR return line to come back into the tank via this moulding/fitting.
    4. Blank off the odd looking additional outlet fittings on the L n R side of the front mount. Still NFI as to what they r for but suspect they r inlets for sill tanks. Jeez if u added 2 of them u would be carrying 190l. @ $1.39 per litre thats $264 per refill. Almost as bad as my old boat. (1000l @ $l.00 per l. U get the picture)
That will do for now. JC thanks so much for your reply. The V8 only uses heaps when your foot is on the firewall. Not to mention the 400m climb out of the Huon. Best bit o motorcycling road in Tassie that.

The front bottom lines are pick up, and I think return lines. There's a catchment area (baffle) down there to make sure you get the last bit of fuel. The pick up on the sender unit has been blancked off on my tank. Otherwise it would need extending.
