300Tdi disco oil pressure light
Hey fellas,
I drive between Bathurst and Lithgow regularly and by the time the engine has heated up the oil light comes on. It starts by coming on only at idle then remains on even with higher revs. There is plenty of oil as I am paranoid about losing it and check it regularly. This might have something to do with the switch or worse, the thermostat that controls the oil flow through the cooling pipes.
Any suggestion beyond replacing the switch (i'll get around to this ASAP).
See you at Cooma...

Had the same problem in my 97 300Tdi. Light would come on at idle and sometimes at higher revs. Had me really worried when it first happened.
I took the sensor out and tested it with a low pressure air regulator. I found it faulty across the entire range so simply replaced it with a new one. (around $40 if I remember correctly)
Hasn't been a problem since.
I would suggest you do check the sensor to rule out other potential problems like the pump bypass etc.
Regards
M.
