Water tank in a 130 twin cab ?

Has anyone got one, and if so how is it set up. I want to put one in mine with the idea of it being for drinking and shower water.

A forum member mentioned the possibility of fabricating one to fit under the tub, but I'm not sure then how to run the pickups - ie needs to be able to draw water whether the truck is parked uphill on a sideslope etc. (reasonable angles only, of course!)

    Thanks.

Hmm where to put the tank though...

And are those caravan tanks the type that don;t leach the bloody plastic taste into the water, as I hate thet taste.

    Hey Vlad,
not sure of the clearance on the HCPU but I have put a 60L tank on top of the fuel tank, bolted to a frame which bolts to the chassis mounts. It clears my alloy tray by 2cm or so... only problem as I write this I remember the HCPU has wheel wells, effectively my tank sits in that space between your wheel wells, but with the flat alloy tray it all works????

I am looking at a watertank myself and will probably end up with an Al tank that fits in the drivers sill space.. waiting on those CAD plans from another thread maybe. I think for simplicity I will cut a largish hole in the top to allow fitment of a 12V bilge pump inside the tank, then weld in a 3/8 thread fitting both inside and outside the tank to allow barbed fittings to pass the bilge outet through the tank... this will allow the tap to be at a more convienient level than the bottom of the chassis rail, probably between the cab and tray??? Will fill through the tap/hose for simplicity... simple breather on top of the tank?

    regards

If your water tank was air-tight and you had an on-board compressor, you might consider using compressed air to pump the water out. No extra pump in the tank to break down, and you just need to thread in an airline connector to the tank to make it work, and you can connect it anywhere near the top of the tank.

if you want a really cheap 12v pump........those shower sets you can buy for around $20 should do the job........

a simple on off switch and you get a shower as well.......

a design i like for the water tanks is the thin one available for utes.....holds around 50 litres......
i think its available from opposite lock......a bit pricey for my liking.....but a great design.....

check out their other tanks......and have a look at all the different designs.....im sure you will find a few you like......
then all you need to do is copy one of them.......out of stainless or alloy.....

here is a link to their home page...... Welcome to Opposite Lock

the tub sits right down on the fuel tank.

as good a spot as any. That's where my extra fuel tank is. The filler is behind the rear door and goes through the cab space behind the seat, then through the floor.

Another spot is a bladder in the box under the back seat, if that space isn't already being used, or get a tank made up to replace the seat box, although the sloshing water could be a touch disconcerting, even when baffled.

currently have a bladder in the rear seat box... with all the spares i put in there too the capacity is down a bit. I had thought about making the seat box into a tank but the bolt fittings for the rear seats would make life interesting.

I had thought of using air to pump the tank too, thats how we get boat fuel out of 44s when bush... works a treat. would needs some fancy plumbing to control the pressures from my compressor... blow off valve at 150psi currently so would need a small air tank, with a one way valve and a lower pressure relief valve????? there is always a way.
