I wouldnt knock Tata too much, they make some very good products for export - they are not just involved in motorcars.

I have used some of their Gas Chromagraphs for lab use and it was amongst the best I have ever used.

The products they build for their domestic market, it made to suit the ecconomy. There is no point in building high quality high priced goods for a market that can't afford it.
