I'm running Eldorado Z4 for on road and Tempra Trail Cutters for off road work.
In over 100 000 Kilomeeters, not 1 flat.
And these are El Cheapo, Cooper made home brand tyres.

I swapped a set of wheels over onto my Disco last week and came to the conclusion that anyone who had "play" wheels and rubber was nuts. Whilst admittedly I am very lightly built, it took it out of me lifting 10 heavy wheels and there is no way I could do that whenever I wanted to go offroad.

As another option you could try the Maxxis Bighorn tyres.

I own a 98 Disco auto 300tdi with the exact same rims as yours. I have 245/75R16 size Maxxis Bighorn tyres and haven't had any leaking seal issues.

I regularly drive through soft sand (tyres deflated to 16psi) on Stockton beach and also through mud and rocky terrain (tyres deflated to 24psi) around Newcastle area and haven't had any issues with the tyres or rims.

My only gripe with the tyres are they are reasonably noisy on road, but offer fantastic grip everywhere.

My only gripe with the alloys is I would love an extra inch of backspacing to get a wider track. Although I have never rolled the disco I would feel much better if the tyres (and hence rims) were wider apart to give the disco a bit more stability.

    Cheers

I get mine from a local tyre store in Warragul
Have a look at Tyres 4U
Eldorados are up the top right of the tyre icons there.

Maybe get a set of disco steels to use offroad. Alternately, use sikaflex (poor man's beadlock) on the beads when fitting the tyres.

I have 3 sets of disco steel rims (2 modified), and I have NEVER lost a bead offroad - even though I run them at 8psi in the serious stuff.

That said - it is just as much about the tyre as the rim when it comes to losing beads. e.g. simex have a bad reputation in that regard.

I dont know what you blokes are doing but Ive had 2 sets of BFG AT KO with bead protection and only 1 flat and that was a nail.

You must be lightly built or underworked, If thats a struggle

Try 35" Bias ply tyres at over twice the weight

You don't drop your tyres pressure down very often then
