No offence, but why?
I finally finished my rear bar - and this is how it looks:
The ARB rear bar fits straight onto the Disco 1 chassis, but with the fuel tank being slightly different, I had to shave a little off the NS arm of the bar.
The 2nd photo shows how it looks bare - notice how shorter the Disco body is compared to the rangie.
3rd photo is the tube steel add ons I used to raise the deck. Notice I've cut out some of the tube so you can drop the bar down for repairs.
4th photo, door closed - the holes you can see are for a bolt on engineers vice. (Very handy)
5th photo shows the side profile - (and that was with a 31 x 10.5 tyre) - so if I reverse into a tree the bar will do it's job like the front bar.
So now I have a departure angle just the same as a RR or Disco 2. But on the plus side nobody wants to run into the back of me![]()
No offence, but why?
Langy, this is freaky, only yesterday i was going to post and ask if an RRC rear bar will fit a D1 ! I have the earlier style that has a bolt on tongue but was thinking of cutting the whole towbar section off leaving just the bar section. Have you spaced it out from the chassis or is that just how its sits.

For Mr Rovercare: You'll notice that there is a camper conversion in the back of my Disco - I needed somewhere to sit, and maybe heat up dinner on a small burner - and my budget wouldn't stretch to a Disco ARB bar. But I was able to obtain a RR bar real cheap, so I went with what I had.
For Mr Loanrangie, that's how it is standard.
Hi Langy, looks good now mate. I'm intrested with your bed/camping setup in the back of the D1. can you put up some pics of that??
cheers steve
Yep, I really miss my Rangie and it's tailgate. - a drop down tray is on my list ( I'll do a new thread on the camper conversion later)

Here's one I made earlier from a bit of tread plate and some wire.
