Transfer Case Stuck!
Removing the transfer case from my 300Tdi Auto, everything has run very smoothly, but the case refuses to budge. It has moved back about 20mm from the gearbox, I can see the chamfer on the gearbox output shaft. All seems loose, and yes, everything is undone including linkages and breather pipe, but it won't move!
Any ideas?

Possibly worn splines jammed together.
If that is the case, with an auto you might be able to take the PTO cover off the transfer case and undo the jackshaft retaining bolt, allowing the whole lot to come free of the trans.
Before doing that, double check that it isn't a linkage or similar causing the issue. From memory I had that problem with my Rangie, it was one of the difflock linkages catching.

All fixed! The pin in the high/low selector lever had fouled a web in the gearbox. The real fun was getting the pin back in its proper position.
Thanks for the help.
