    95 D1 V8 - air con compressor - bearing or whole unit

Hi all - the air con compressor has gradually got noiser and now if you hold the revs in neutral at 3000rpm and turn on the compressor it pulls the revs back by a full 500rpm! Am I up for a bearing, or given its the original unit with 245,000ks should I just be getting it re-coed or a new one...

    THanks all.

Normally a bearing should fix this, however much depends on the additional wear on the shaft that a 'crook' bearing can cause.

The actual bearing replacement is cheap and easy, so take that option first and just hope that the bearing 'slap' hasnt caused too much wear on the other parts.

They are normally quite resilient AC compressors.

$20 should see you for a new bearing at a bearing place.
I think incisor has a post some where on bearing replacement.
    An easy job.
