If you mean me then I just meant that it was only two days ago I last locked them up at 60.
The only thing I've done to the brakes is replace the rear pads and put a kit through the master cylinder. That was only because the reservoir rubbers leaked though.

Sounds like you're chasing the last 10% in performance. Could be the MC, the booster or new/not well bedded/contaminated pads, but are you sure you've stomped hard enough? Braking this hard takes real white-knuckled committment. I thought I would get a nose bleed I stopped so fast.

I have good road tyres. If you just want to be able to lock up, get MTs

thanks fellas - no not chasing the last 10%...just wanting to know if my total braking system which is well maintained is up to spec - normal. It seems as though some people can lock them and some cant...which is good!

Not sure quite what the consensus is here, but my older Defender (300Tdi)couldn't quite lock the wheels when I got it, after a close call I looked into it and found the brake booster had a small vac leak somewhere, when I turned off the engine i could hear a slight hissing from it. Anyway, I got a new one and the difference was ASTOUNDING, also no hiss from it when I turned off the engine. I'd check the booster!
I had large tyres on it too.

Anyone got a hint on where to get a booster from? The best price I've had is around $400ish from Karcraft.

I can lock mine up at 60 easily. With both the michelin XPC's and the STTs.

Ok - thanks fellas - mine might have a small vac leak then...I will look into that - so it seems that a quite few people might have small vac leaks if they cannot lock up.

Fraser - were you able to lock them at 60 after putting in the new booster. Mine does not have a hissing sound - the only way to induce that is to move the grommet where the vac tube goes in...then it will hiss a bit.
