Grinding Noise in rear of Disco 2

Hi,
Thank you all for the info. :) I am working today (Saturday)to make my 60 hour week at the labour camp but will get into it tomorrow. Fingers crossed it is an easy one to find.

Signal1 lost an anti rattle spring in one of this rear brake calipers. The spring stops the brake pads rattling. This causes a rattle / grinding sound that took a while to find.

No more additions to what others have said.
Mine covers are cracked and did have a noise sometimes but was the left rear.I put washers in the sheild,it firmed it up.Gravel stones do get in them sometimes but thats usually pretty rowdy but short lived

Hi,
Got stuck into it today. Every disk brake had Pilbara dust in them stopping th pads coming right off the disks, A bit of serious side ways force causing them to rub big time and hence the noise. A serious service on the brakes has sorted it out.

Thanks to everyone for their advice because it definitey put me on the right track. Just about put it up on two wheels on the roundabout and not a sound out of it.

You quickly forget how bad that dust is up here, especially mixed with a bit of water. It just about turns to cement. :)
