    silastic removal

Howdy Guys , I'm getting my lwb hard top ready to paint but the last owner has used a sheet load of silastic on the side panels to run an aerial lead . Whats the best removal of this stuff as a scrapper is not doing so good and digging at the panel ? Any thoughts ?

I just Googled it on How to and Kerosene seems the way to go , but I also found unleaded Fuel will dissolve the stuff really well, but might be a little dangerous , I had one of those Spray bottle empty in the garage and put unleaded Fuel in it and spray selastic and it eats the stuff really well.

Depends where it is but you can use an old credit card on flat panels to scrape it...

An investigation into the kitchen drawer is likely to find a non metallic but rigid scraper designed for defrosting the freezer and similar tasks. Failing that, make a scraper from scrap aluminium.

also if spraying fuel around worries you try some vinegar as it is a base of silly-cone ,may take a little longer than unleaded but a little safer

Selleys make a silicone remover gel. Dont know how well it works though. I bought a container of it years ago just in case I needed it for work (builder) but have never needed it.

Thanks for the options guys . tried a couple of things ..... used my old credit card to get the bulky stuff off and used some thinners to melt the rest off . great day outside so i should get the 2 side walls painted for the hardtop .
