td5 turbo noise - do you have it?
Hi Guys
seen mentioned on here before that people have commented on the noise thier turbo makes on the TD5 (ie it spooling up spinning etc) after having my tyres replaced the tyre shop moved another td5 and i could hear the turbo spinning and a slight whistle from the exhaust it sounded lovely!
question.... why the hell cant i hear the turbo on mine AT ALL? cant hear it spinning cant hear it whining its almost as tho it isnt there! (sometimes feels like it too but thats an ongoing thing
)
Thanks in advance
Steve

Snorkels bring out the noise, as does removing the centre muffler.
Actually the other thing is that I can hear the turbo most with a very light throttle but on the roll at low speeds.
Cheers

Why you cant hear your Turbo is it is in good nick...
Turbo's make noise due to imperfections.
I had the Turbo replaced on my Volvo V40T4 that i had under warrentee as it was noisy... and the new one went in, just as noisy, then the 2nd new one went in by Garrett and it was silent.
Garrett told me the noise was imperfections in the vanes.. a good turbo with correct clearances should be a whoosh not a whisle....
