    MY03 Defender

I have just purchased my first Defender, under the ECU in the floor there is a 50mm diameter hole, should this have a rubber plug in it? Some people have told me it is meant to be open to stop the ECU getting too hot! allowing ventilation? I find this hard to believe as it is also letting in all other nature of foreign matter (water, dust, etc) which must surely spell disaster after a while. Is my gutt instinct right in sealing this up?

No hole in mine. And id bet my frontal lobe that there shouldnt be one there.

Im going to pressurize my drivers side seat box. Probably not needed 99 percent of the time, but it will be a good talking point.

some have the hole some dont. if you dont dont panic if you do dont panic, if you do and you dont have the sealing bung wipe it down with some meths and then put down a piece of gaffa tape or install the appropriate bung.

Interesting to note that the 2008MY Defender (PUMA engine) no longer has the ECU located in the seat box.

Instead, it's now attached to the firewall, directly exposed to the rear of the engine.... Not sure if that's a better spot, but I guess it's higher...

What the hell is in all those boxes below the drivers seat if not the ECU?
Never took note of the ECU behind the engine on mine.
Neve seen an ECU before on my 109"

By the way, where on earth is the oil filter on the new Puma?
Couldn't find it at first glance, nor the second glance

Was thinking along the same lines there - good for water crossings to keep water out.... just a low pressure from a cheap 12v mattress pump or something
