Flat on the transmission tunnel, between the gearstick and the handbrake to the rear of the CB extension speaker and forward of the telephone cradle.

Not much room anywhere down there.

You need to be able to reach it from the drivers position while driving and with the CB, GPS and NAVman on top of the dash there was no room up there either.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Mine which I have never used is under the dash ( mounted on the under dash cover) to the RH of the steering wheel.
I have never found it a nuisance and never hit my leg on it in 8+years.

Thanks for confirming my proposed location ... I was hoping for something a little more creative that I had not thought of ... Right of steering column it is then.
