Radiator and jacket water plastic plugs.

I am sure this has been asked before, but what size are the black plastic plugs which fit to the radiator and the jacket water conections. I presume they are BSP but ar they 1/2", 3/4" or what. I'd prefer to know and have a couple of replacements before I destroy them removing them.

    T & R,

Most LR specialist servicers will have the brass ones.

I agree with Ladas ditch the plastic ones they're a disaster waiting to happen,

My D1 facelift radiator tank one is 1/2" BSP. I think it's a parallel thread though, not tapered, but tapered will do as a standby with some Teflon tape.

I don't know about the jacket one.

Thanks mate, I'll raid the store and get a couple of 1/2" BSP S/S plugs and fit them.

The threads are a parallel 20mm, the same as your standard reticulation riser or sprinkler fitting. I recently had my radiator plug blow at 5:15pm on Friday afternoon, just before leaving to go away for the weekend!! Last resort effort found me in Bunnings in the plumbing section with 2 galv steel BSP plugs which were more than adequate!!
    LOL... Bunnings....... who woulda thought!!!!!

as above, 1/2"BSP in t/stat housing and radiator, and as Des said, just be a little careful when using 1/2"BSPT

Welcome. You didn't say what donk it's for but I am assuming a diesel & not a V8i, 'cos I haven't noticed one in the T/s housing.
