define completely rebuild........... and with what mods....

on the cheap doing most of the work yourself assuming the heads and block are close enough to spec that stock oversize bits can be used my opening rough guess is $2k.

With what you really need to invest you may be better to start with a stiff block post 1980 from memory.
Depends on how much work you do yourself but I would of thought $2000-$2500 should of seen it done.

82 up hicomp would be a better engine, and if it hasnt done too many kś or was looked after you may get away with a re ring and top end rebuild.

I did up a 3.5 V8 a year or so ago. Rebore, head overhauled, crankshaft skimmed to slightly O/S, new pistons, rings bearings camshaft, lifters, timing chain etc. All the labour except that needed for the reboring, head overhaul and crankshaft was provided by me. Total cost was around $3k. On reflection difficult to defend economically, but at least I learnt what was in the engine, and I know that its been done reasonably well.

As above plus new liners throughout. $3K
Now I know the engine through and through so it was worth the money.

Mind you I do like taking things to pieces and putting them back together again.
