    Radio Security Code

Had to replace the battery and of course lost the radio and am confused by the instructions to reset the radio.

I have a Eurovox 8691 radio unit and the security code card has a 6 digit code.

All of the instructions in the various handbooks refer to the code as being a 4 digit number and the display screen is supposed to initially show the message CODE1 but all I get is the number 1

    Any suggestions?

    regards

The code is a 4 digit number. Dont worry about not trying the number you have. You will get 4 go's I think and then it will give you four ---- for an hour and then you can retry.

If you dont have any luck, call Land Rover and they can look up your vehicle and give you the code (providing its the same stereo).

    Cheers

    Hi Harry,
If your radio is the 1 1/2 Din (Big Face) radio that was an original fit to D2's in Aus it should have a 4 digit code...
    BUT..
If u have the single Din radio as fitted to some vehicles then u will have a 6 digit radio code.
The "1" just means first go, if it fails it will then read "2", you will get 3 attempts then it will lock down for an hour with this symbol on the display "----" & will have to remain powered up for an hour until it then says "1" again.
If u fail the 3 goes again it will the lock u out double the original time & continually double until about 6 goes & the radio is the dead!
You end up burning a chip in the head unit & render the unit useless-bin job.
If in doubt after a few attempts ring your dealer with the VIN of your vehicle to see if the card matches your VIN.

I have the single din and it has gone to ---- twice now so I am getting a bit nervous

What is unclear is how I enter the six digits using the preset numbers.

I have no idea how to, after entering the first number move to the second digit then the third and so on.

Do you know how to do it?

    regards

    Hi Harry
    There are 2 security codes.
One is the ignition, without checking I think this is your 6 digit(to unlock a computer lockout)
The radio should be a 4 digit code.
Will go and check mine,I have aftermarket sound but the original code is still there.

Harry, I have had 2 D2's 'lose' their codes in the past. I had both the user manual code card AND confirmation from LR, but no code was recognized. Both vehicles had the original radios. Both owners then went and bought a package deal head unit and stacker from a car audio place for not much more than what Eurovox wanted to receive and repair their unit.
The reason is unclear, but it has happened to me twice now , and only on D2's...

    Hi Andy

Just rechecked the 2 security cards and I think the radio may have been changed because the Discovery Security card has a radio serial number and a 6 digit security code but no 8 digit emergency key access code.

The Eurovox security code card has a different radio serial number and another 6 digit security code with instructions saying "The security code release procedure can be found in your owners manual" , the manual says how to reset 4 digit codes but nothing to do with 6 digit codes.

So unless someones knows how to input a 6 digit code a call to Barbagellos is on the cards tomorrow.

    regards

    Hi Harry,
Sorry for the late reply as i only have pc access to the site at home.
I noticed Scouse has sent a PM to get the info. If he cant do it i will try also if it fails (i also work for a dealer..but Shhhh)
It will be a 6 digit code from memory & u enter the code via the radio preset buttons.
Disregard what comes up on the display & enter the numbers.
Your code may be 244243 for arguments sake.
But the radio display will show 123456....Its just to confuse u

    Hope all goes well.

If u need anymoe help just ask.
    Cheers
