That's the US setup where they flash the stop lights on turns.

Why is it that the genuine LR part YWJ500120 trailer wiring harness kit which is sold by Rover Connection for my Disco II, and comes with a seven pin plug, has a fitting in line that reduces the active wires to 4. i.e. you get left and right indicator, and tail lights, but the brakes are wired up to the indicator lights.
So..... when you put the brakes on both indicators light up, but the bright red bulbs do nothing. This seems a bit crazy to have a seven pin plug with only four active wires. Why wouldn't they have another wire for stop lights and better still another for electric brakes and possible another for auxilliary power ?????? Has anyone else been similarly frustrated and come up with a simple solution ???? All suggestions welcome.

Probably a bit late now - but I would never have bought a "standard" Landrover trailer wiring harness. I still don't understand why they bother selling them here since none are wired for Australian standard set-up. I would have thought the one you bought should be wired for the UK - not US.
Better to just do it wire by wire since there are a lot more than just those 4 active wires you can use. From memory there are also active feeds in the supply loom for the reversing light and auxiliary power which can be wired to an Australian 7-pin harness even though most trailers don't even use them. If you've got access to a RAVE CD then you can see exactly what feeds there are. And here is a link to the Australian Standards for trailer wiring if it helps...

Sorry - that link didn't quite work.... and the edit button has disappeared so I have to post a new one...
Go to "DIY Marine" on the lefthand meny and there is a link to "Trailer Wiring".
