Thread: haultech ETC

I checked out their site, and apart from being very basic, it shows old 4wds.

This says one of two things.

1) Traction control is bound to be retard based, ok for locked 4wds, esp with lots of power, (which almost any aftermarket ECU can do, and still means sensors) OR

2) they add one of the electronic brake distribution units and a controller. This then means putting sensors on every wheel.

These are assumptions, but there are only so many ways of running a TC system.


I believe the bosch ETC computer in a d2 is a basic one (same as the freelander?), im not sure if upgrading to a later model computer and distro unit would give faster TC, HDC and stability control.

Search for this on Outerlimits4x4.com, was a real big write up on it there by the guys who make it.

That particular system performs exceptionally well and is comp proven.

It's not a drive in and get it installed proposition though.

hmmm, actually I'd better take that back.

Each kit as far as I'm aware, and it's probably better to check this with Charles or Sam from Haultech, but each kit is customised to the vehicle which is why it's not a straight forward job... but I think they did have a company in Sydney (Overkill???) and quite possibly in Brisbane (if not themselves) that can do the installation.

We have a D2 in the Brisbane 4wd club that has this system fitted, works very well,

He also has the centre diff lock and a Mac locker in the rear. The locker doesn't get used much

He only got the locker because he blew his rear diff didn't he?

I cant find any info on the net about it. Only two threads on AULRO. Their website says "coming soon" in relation to their ETC.
