Question Discovery II Central Locking Problems

Hi everyone I am new to the forum so I hope I am not covering new ground!!

On Saturday my last key fob gave up the ghost, prior to this the central locking was working ok. After gaining access to the car via the EKA codes. My wife took the car to the dealer in Perth today. She purchased new key fobs and they programmed the car /key. The car was open when she picked it up and it was not until she got home that she noticed the following:

One click on the key - drivers door does not unlock.

Two clicks - All other door open except the driver.

On inspection when I got home we noticed the drivers door opens with the key manually. Passenger rear door shows open but cannot be opened from outside only from within the car.

Either there is a problem with the Synchronization or in Landrovers opinon either it was not working before it arrived or just coincidence.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi TD5man,

Sorry cany offer more, but this much I do know...

It sounds like a synch fault. On first press the drivers door only should unlock, on second press all remaining doors should unlock.

    good luck

Thanks, I am sure it is a clitch in the electronics some where!!!

I also have replaced three wheel sensors another common fault. I hate having the three amigo's lighting up the dash. Land Rover won't admit to that problem either even though it is common knowledge . The modified sensors have never been an issue strange!!

    Smile Stuck central locking

    Giday,

I have a similar problem except i think hat my door unlocking motors (cant remember the word) are stuck. I'm not sure that is the problem but i was hoping that it would be easy to oil them up without pulling apart the doors.

Anyway its a theory, i hope it works for me because only my back door works properly.

    Anyway have a try.

    HI TD5 man ,

The key problem is a common one especialy if the missus has long nails ????

I recently had both my keys stop working within a week I pulled them apart and found that a little microswitch broken off inside. I carefully superglued it back in place and resoldered the connections. Hey presto shes a goer again.

I think the new fobs are around $400 so if you cant do it yourself any electronics geek will be able to do it for you.

Where do the long nails come into it? I watched my missus push the buttons because of the nails she pushes across the button not directly down the constant sideways movement on the button weakens the the microswitch and it breaks off.

Wifes new nickname is passion fingers because she f$%*^ s everything she touches.

    MIKE
