MAF sensor - option to get rid of

    I have D2 V8 on LPG + petrol

I have had a few backfires, blown the air box up and had to replace the maf sensor

In recent time the LPG has behaved itself, but when the weather is hot, it runs like a dog on petrol (especially at low revs), and I have a gut feeling the maf sensor is not functioning to 100%

Could I replace this system with something that doesn't use the maf snesor?

    thanks

    What D2? GEMS or Motronic.
In any case it would be with great difficulty as the ECU also runs many body functions such as air, central lock etc.
There are some tuning places that have experience in a Mafless edit for GM but I would think there is zero experience in Australia with GEMS or Motronic.
You could change to aftermarket ECU but then would need to have the original ECU retained for the body functions.

GEMS has a square box on top of the engine with 4.0 , engraved onto it.

Motronic will be a Thor manifold, which has a lot of curved tubes across the top of the engine.

    motronic - gems

your 01 disco should be a (bosch) motronic

you should have the thor inlet manifold, looks like a set of ribs on top of the engine

i think gems was for the d1's
