    three amigos are here

    Hi all.

I have checked all wheel sensors, brake pads, all fuses, CDL actuator, and all conections to the ABS modulator and brake servo. All seem to be ok.

But I seem to have reduced braking capability and the three lights are still on ( TC, ABS, HDC).

I can only put it down to a stuffed modulator. is there any thing else i can check and how much am i expected to pay for a new modulator

    thanks.

    I have a 99 disco.

I would suggest you pay the money and have it professionally diagnosed. The vehicle is 8 years old so it could be a combination of things.

Had the same with my '99 D2, ABS/TC/HDC warning lights in January, all came on after driving some corregations. My brakes also lost their usual efficiency, however they still stopped the car ok and strangely the efficiency improved the less I used the brakes??. 3 lights still remained however.

I did what you did and checked all stuff I could easily access, fiddled and cleaned all connection before taking it to my local mechanic.

They ran diagnostic (probably "Testbook") and tracked fault code to rear left sensor, (agree with jmkoffice, you must get this done) also the brake fluid was very old and had "boiled" at some point. With the fault codes reset, and braked bled, I've had no problem since. All up $180. so very happy.

If it is the ABS modulator, they can cost up to $2500, the alternative is to replace the ABS Modulator "Shuttle Valve" which is now available as a kit (pt#SW0500030) for around $120. But both these are a last resort.

But in most cases, cleaning the connections and re-setting the fault codes has you on your way again.

This info may be an overkill here, but I did some searching when my "amigos" arrived and put together some information copied from various web sites (including AULRO). Keep it for reference.

Good luck, let us know what you find.
