failed pump or the connector to the fuel pump on top of the tank has let go.
Hi,
a friend of mine has a TD5 Defender the fuel light was on it had fuel and stopped.
After adding Fuel it will not start and they cannot hear the pump running.
Any ideas?

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Did you follow the handbook procedure for running out of fuel? That will eliminate that.
I've had a fuel pump relay fail, under the drivers seat. Doesn't go far then.
What mileage is on the car? Is it due for pump failure?
