    D2 V8 LPG - with ACE

I've been looking at gas setups for my D2 V8, just trying to get some info which seems to be consistant is proving hard. I know what I want as far as tanks etc, 2 scubas underneath, remove petrol tank and add aux petrol tank (been told 40-60 litre, depending on whe you talk too).

My issue is now which under bonnet setup is the go. The draw-thru system costs $4100 (including new plugs & leads), can back fire - then damage airflow meter. Also will need to disable ACE as it pulses the injectors, what? I was under the impression I can go around a corner flat out with the foot on the gas & injectors are still pumping out as much petrol as I'm game enough?? I questioned this and the reply is it the ACE would be just reduced. I think they think it's stability control, even after I've explained it to them. Any thoughts on ACE still working with Gas?

Also want to chip ecu, my thinking is that this would prevent/reduce backfires on the drawthru system as timing etc is all correct for gas applications. This would allow me to get gas and chip for the price of the vapour injection.

The sequential vapour injection is an extra $1,500 making it $5,600 - $5,800 depending on who does it. No backfire, but been told injectors can gum up, but also been told that it's only to cheap **** injectors gum up.

Rang Range-Rov re vapour injection, the "service manager/used car salesman" wasn't particuarly helpful, even after I told them I'd been referred to them.

Help wanted from existing D2 owners.

    Thanks,

    Dave.

    Hi Dave
Cant help you much with the LPG.
BUT will say,ACE has nothing at all to do with injection so whatever sytem you choose LPG WILL NOT EFFECT IT nor will it need to be disabled.
ACE works purely on the sway bars, the more cornering force detected by the roll sensors the more hydraulic force applied to the sway bars.
As you suggest they may be confused with stability programs on newer cars that cut fuel to regain stability.
The LPG injection is beneficial on the D2,they just trick the ECU to make it belive its running on petrol. As you say no expensive backfires,2 or 3 AFMs later and you will be wishing you forked out the extra.Pity you arent in WA,we get $3000 from the gov.$2000 Federal and $1000 State!!!

Hi there, heaps of threads on LPG on this site....

But I run vapour injection with a 60l tank. I think i have done about 30k on it. Found it pretty good without needing to do any chip stuff. perfomance is not noticably different.... around town I use about 20l per 100 LPG as oposed to about 18-20/100 Petrol!

I paid about $4300 including tank etc... Get $2g back, it was definitely worth it!

I wouldn't bother replacing the whole fuel tank! The 60L manifolds will get you about 250-300k, then you run petrol for a few K to keep everytihg happy! Just bolt it to the floor and they are only about 25cm of air space. Just put a false floor over the top.

Plenty have done it this way and it works great!

Thanks Andrew, advice is appreciated. Think I will go with the extra, as originally plained.
    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Mr Bultaco,
Thanks for input. Do they still make Bultaco's? The tank in rear cargo area is easy and cheap, but will loose carry capacity and doesn't look real flash, hence I want tanks underneath, also will defeat my option to delete petrol dependency.

Plenty of LPG posts, but not much info, especially on D2's.

    Cheers,

    Dave.
