Guys,
Use pure argon for stainless steel and definatley for aluminium. Do not use argon for steel. Use a CO2 mix. Steel needs the additonal heat which the CO2 mix will give to fuse the steel and give you good penatration - we all love good penatration.
Oi, have you lot lost the plot or is it me?
He said "I have access to a MIG welder, that is currently set up as a GASLESS MIG"
Why on earth would anyone frig round with bottles when these machines are quite capble welders with .9mm fux cored wires in them? UNLESS you were going to buy a roll of .9mm GP wire and use the remaining gas.
Hmmmmmmmmm I'm confused.
Oh and Argoshield is a mix of Argon, Oxygen n Carbon Dioxide. Good for GP welding up to or >25mm thickness providing the appropriate preheating processes are adhearded to.
I was planning on using the MIG welder for welding up a roll cage for a project car, the regs say it must be a "gas sheilded weld" so i gasless MIG won't do. I might get away with a gasless weld, but there is always a chance of the flux getting into the weld.
Ill just have to bite my bum and get the real ARGONSHIELD, strait ARGON won't do.
thanks again for the replys
