    LT 95 Slack

Can anyone tell me if the LT95 gearbox/tfr case combo has the same drive train slack issues as the RR classic and discos up to 1996.

You know the output shaft of the gearbox and the input cog of the tfr case wearing because the input cog is not cross drilled and suffers from lack of lubrication.

    Thanks

I believe they do but not to the same extent.
When I bought my 77, 16 years ago now, I had Land and Sea reduce the slack by reshimming the transfer. In that operation they replaced the drop gear (and also the bellhousing which was irrelevant but affected the clutch).
I have no idea how many Ks the car had done at that stage but probably 300K plus.
After the reshim and replacement and rebuild of the centre diff with solid cross shaft, the car was MUCH better.
So You will probably find that excessive slop is from a combination of causes.

    seconded.

some of the lash can be eliminated by redoing the shimming of the tcase sides intermediate shaft.

Thanks guys - not an issue as yet but interested if the problem existed with the LT95.

At 100,000k my 94 disco manual was starting to get a bit loose and I was looking at replaceing the tfr case gear to the X drilled one but I sold the car so didn't do it.

i have an LT95 in the Stage 1, and an LT77 in the '94 'fender.
the stage one has less play in the driveline than the defender did
    BUT
the defender is currently undergoing a front driveshaft and front axle replacement (with heavy duty drive flanges installed) as these components were found to be quite worn.

should be finished this by tuesday at the latest so i'll let you know then..
