Hey guys on the back of the front diff there is a round object that is bolted near where the steering dampner is bolted and it has a wire running from one nut to the other (sorry no pic)
Question is A what does it do and B can I take it off

Not sure what it does/did, but mine fell off somewhere near Karumba a few years ago. The Disco still starts, steers, stops and leaks oil, so I'm happy.
I don't know why they'd want to add more unsprung weight to the axle anyway... maybe it was a practical joke - i bet it costs $$$$ to replace too

It's a harmonic/vibration damper for the front axle.
The wire is there to hold the damper in case the mount breaks.
Some seem to notice a difference if it's not fitted, others not.
