    Door handle problem.

    Hello all i am having a little trouble with the drivers door on my disco 96 tdi when you unlock it with the remoter you have to pull the handle twice before it opens!

    any one one else have this problem?
    any fixes for this problem?

    also I cant lock the disco with my remote the buttons go down but then come up again in a second or two?

    I think that lubrication is the first thing to address. While, not necessarily, a permanent solution, apply WD40 or such, liberally to the door lock. Work the lock a no. of times & see if behaviour (of the lock)improves.

    I had that problem .....now I'm going from memory here so this might not be 100% right. You need to pull off the inerior trim and plastic dust cover, look in there and you'll find a thin rod between the door handle and the door opening mechanism. The rod is adjustable in length with a thread. I just shortened the thread by a few turns ( which must take up the slack a bit ) and now works fine.

    Worked a treat thought id do the easy one first and spray the door lock and handle with crc and that seemed to do the trick hasnt failed since.
