thanks justinc but im only 1000ths ks from a dealer and live in porthedland were you get what your given and taken were your took if i need to get the missus commodore serviced book in 1mth before due and you might be lucky thats why i own a landy theres not much you cant fix your self with a bit of help thanks glennQuote:

We found some of the gear up in trees, an Engel fridge lid 7 feet up in one! 6 packs of Emu Export snagged in branches (Would've made a good photo that one!) and the fuel drums and 'lux's spare wheels etc long gone.
We discovered the drillers camp had even more fun than us. During the first night of rain, after an all day downpour, the Gen set went off, stopping the A/C in the van. When one of the guys woke up to go and investigate, he was ankle deep in water and it was about that time the van lurched and moved backward 6 or so feet into a tree. He forced open the van door, promptly filling it up with water, which stopped it floating away. They crawled thorugh the skylight to spend a nervous night on the roof, surrounded by water, wedged into a big ghost gum. After the water subsided, they went searching for the landcruiser ute and trailer mounted genset, which had both been washed a few hundred feet downstream. The cruiser started after a day or two of drying out and changing oils and fuel etc, the genset was not so lucky, as it was running when the water washed over it, and it hydraulic locked:o
The caravan was one of those ex main roads mobile quarters. It ran 750/16 's with tandem axles, and had a laundry at one end. It was big enough to be towed by the water truck when moving camp. The water mark inside the van was a foot above the stove top!!
They estimate the creek rose 5 to 6 meters in about 1 hour that night!
after that episode, I have a very high respect for the forces of nature!

I expected you would get good advice. What I'm saying is that when something goes bang in the driveline its going to put metal grindings in the oil and that will work like a fine grinding paste on the bearings etc.
If its a CV or shaft & you put it in centre diff lock then the drive goes 50/50 so it will still be rotating the front diff & shafts.
