If any of you have changed your mind please let me know ASAP. Otherwise, please get your forms and 3kg satchels to me. In a week or so I will be setting a cutoff date, and those who were too slow will be replaced by people on the reserve list.
Don't forget to check out the Install threads: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/good-oil/5...l-provent.html
Received yesterday. Thanks Ben.

Thank you for sending me a Provent to participate in your study/data collection. I received today a parcel containing the necessary bits.
Sent 28 May received 2 Jun. To be installed weekend of starting 7 Jun.
Ben I installed the Provent in my Rangie today.Slightly different to other Tdi300s as mine has the T4 turbo and manifold from an SE 2.8. main difference Apart from size is the dump pipe is on the fire wall side of the turbo.(pic of install is in the tech forum.
I electedfor the time being ,to run the oil return hose to a container so I can check how much oil is going through the system. Hose length is 200mm from bottom of Provent to actual check valve. Is this a high enough colume of oil to open the valve??
Thank you fo the oportunity. I'll return your filter and paperwork after 20000Klm as requested![]()
Hi Jay - M+H do not reccommend using a catch bottle. However if you check the level regularly it should be OK. But plumbing it to a proper drain would be better. There is no need to use the one way valve if you have a catch can, but what you describe should work fine.
Thanks for fitting it so quickly.
If you fitted a complex system that kept track of the oil outflows from the provent, you could connect the drain to the injector return line. Simultaneously add fresh oil at the same rate. The waste oil is returned to the fuel tank and ends up being combusted, and fresh oil is added to maintain the correct level, thereby negating the need to change the oil.
Though I think cummins beat me to it and patented the system "Centinel"
http://www.embedded.com/story/OEG20010618S0078 - "The Centinel Advanced Oil Management System is an embedded system that extends oil change intervals on electronically controlled diesel engines by periodically removing a small amount of used oil from the engine's crankcase and replacing it with fresh oil. The used oil is sent to the engine's fuel tank, where it is blended with the fuel and burned during normal combustion."
Great idea, but AFAIK the centinel system is being phased out in most places for emissions reasons. I, personally, wouldn't want to send sooty oil through my injector pump.
There is nothing wrong with the oil collected by the Provent - it is still good to lubricate your engine.
