    Why aircon no go?

This is either the third or the fourth time its snapped off at this joint.

Any suggestions what to do? Is there a better join?

    Cheers

    Hi Simon.

Just check that the bonnet stay thingy isn't interfering with the A/C pipe. I had one recently that I couldn't open the bonnet very far. Looked in with a torch and the bonnet scissor stay had jammed under the blue fitting and if I'd have pulled any harder would've broken the pipe at the compressor Like that
When I got the bonnet up, I noticed the pipe was almost worn through where the stay rubs against it while the engine is running!. Fitting more washers etc at the end near the rad will stop it flopping over toward the engine so far.

    ditto what JC said.
Later models have the service port pointing vertically. The one on mine has never given an ounce of trouble (touch wood)

Whoever you get to replace it, just make sure they use one that has the port facing vertically. having said that, the line drawing in my parts book shows all the 90* beadlock fittings having the service port out on the outside of the radius.

I would suggest that when you replace the hose, get one about 1/2 m longer - it wont cost that much more, and when you install it put a loop in it, this should give you a little more flex and stop the breaking at the connection to the compressor.

    Clarkie - No ODS's in R134a - but the GWP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was at the ODS conference in Montreal last week - DuPont introduced a 'drop in' replacement for R22 (R422D) and the GWP is 40% higher than that of R22 - okay it has zero ODP - but what the hell are they trying to do to us (again).

    Thanks.

That and a different position blue service port should do the trick.

I had another look, and the hose is anchored to the air filter housing with a cable tie. I'm thinking this might have given it all a bit of a shake.

    Cheers
    Simon.
